While the music is the star, the program?s brief stories, character portrayals and rich sound elements provide layers of substance that enable Tunes from the Crypt to achieve a dramatic impact on the audience. Spooky favorites include Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain, John Williams' Devil's Dance from Witches of Eastwick, Berlioz's Dream of a Witches Sabbath from Symphonie fantastique, Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre and Skinner's Son of Frankenstein, among others. Broadcast History

Tunes from the Crypt has been an annual broadcast tradition on WGUC in Cincinnati since 1998. Several installments in the series have been distributed nationally by NPR and PRI since that time.

Tunes from the Crypt has been awarded the Communicator Crystal Award of Excellence and the Arts and Cultural Affairs Award for Special Programming from Ohio Educational Telecommunications.
