From KQED Radio News, this is Quest, a weekly series exploring northern California's science and environment. I'm Andrea Kissack.

The Burning Man arts festival in the Nevada desert has been known for radical art exhibits, pyrotechnics and body painted dancers. This year for the first time, organizers invited CEOS and investors of environmentally hip, high-tech companies. (Sneak Drumming up) About a dozen mostly Silicon Valley entrepreneurs from solar, wind and biofuel companies came to share their wares and to navigate the counterculture for green technology ideas.
