Interviews with WWII Veterans radio companion piece to The War

Special program capturing the experiences of local veterans, including Colonel Edward Shames whose unit was featured in the HBO mini-series, Band of Brothers. Also interviewed is Sam Ring of Newport News. Sam Ring enlisted in WWII because his father was a POW, and he ended up helping his father, who had endured the Bataan Death March in the Philippines. The program wraps with 17 year old Jason Hickman telling us how proud he is of his Grandfather a WWII Vet that remains a hero in his eyes.
