Piece Description
YOU CALL IT MADNESS, BUT I CALL IT LOVE Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw with James Carter, and Ack van Rooijen and the James Carter Quartet. A virtuoso from America and an orchestra from Holland celebrate their jazz hero Don Byas. Saxophonist James Carter with his quartet join the Jazz Orchestra of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw to perform compositions by legendary composer, tenorman and (until his passing in 1972) Amsterdam resident. Then, from the Concertgebouw, Carter and flugelhornist Ack van Rooijen front that ensemble to play Henk Meutgeert's lush big band arrangements. A brilliant night of music making for all! Daniel Frankl hosts.
