A Taste of Marin
Last week I did a terrible thing. It was my own fault. I was dropping something off at a neighbors and I went inside instead of staying on the doorstep. I was late, I was late for a very important date - and I sped through town. If I had been watching me I would have given chase. Thank goodness someone was. A gentle soul from town turned his car around and followed me to my stop. ?Lady you were driving far too fast through town.? He was right, I was. And I was grateful to be chastised so clearly and kindly.
But what, I wondered, would have been my reaction if one of the boys riding low in the white and green sheriffs cars that patrol the highways of West Marin had stopped me. Not so good I think. The boys in blue or kaki or green, depending where in the world they are, get bored easily. It is part of the job, the endless waiting followed by an adrenaline...
