Fall is officially here. At least it is for shorebirds beginning their annual southern migration. The Plum Island estuary in Newburyport Massachusetts is a prime place to spot these long-distance flyers. It's a mecca for birds and birders thanks to the variety of habitats, including salt marshes, forests, beaches and mud flats.
