What are the health hazards of gas drilling? Dr. Theo Colborn, author of Our Stolen Future discusses the health impacts to humans, wildlife and domestic animals in areas of gas drilling. She shares with your listeners the truth behind the industry claim that they only use sand, water and soap in the drilling process. She exposes the chemicals they actually use and the extreme heath dangers of these chemicals. Research has documented that 91% of these chemicals are hazardous to health as result of being skin and sensory organ toxicants, respiratory toxicants, gastrointestinal and liver toxicants, neurotoxicants, kidney toxicants, cardiovascular and blood toxicants, immunotoxicants, carcinogens, reproductive toxicants, wildlife toxicants, developmental toxicants and endocrine disruptors. Historically, these chemicals have not been properly handled, causing air and ground water pollution. As air and water are mobile - this affects us all!

In Pennsylvania the laws are lax at padep. Companies are on the honor system to report spills. Not enough personnel to monitor drilling. We currently have a company drilling an injection well 400 above our spring fed fish pond. I videoed the foam blowing out of the pit, I videoed Ucarcide containers, etc. We had foam on our pond one morning which I reported only to be told that foam occurs on pond water. I said not our spring fed fish pond! A property owner doesn't stand a chance and will lose a good spring fed fish pond because the government isn't able to protect the environment. The water level in the pond is going down, there is another injection well to be drilled on another ridge above the pond. Will we have anything left? I video daily what they are doing, if you could use this for studies and remedies to protect the environment. I have pictures of the pit with cutting outside the pit so that one knows the subsurface is getting polluted. The government does not make these companies remove the waste pit cuttings and they wrap the cuttings up in the plastic diaper and bury them. Let me know if you want my finished product when the gas injection wells are completed. It may help you with getting solutions to protect the environment. I have recommendations if you need them. I see what is happening and what needs to be done. To begin with, educate the property owner so they can be the watchdog!
