Description:

Compact Discoveries Program 39: "Leftover Birds"

Fred Flaxman's previous program on "The Birds and the Bees" turned up so much terrific bird music, he decided to do another hour of "Leftover Birds." Included: "At the Chicken Chaser's Ball" with the Royal City Saxophone Quartet... hens, roosters, cuckoos and aviaries from "The Carnival of the Animals" by Saint-Saens (Program 41 is devoted entirely to "Swan Songs"!)... Dave Brubeck's "Strange Meadow Lark"...Tchaikovsky's "Song of the Lark"...Hoagie Carmichael's "Skylark"... and music by Glinka, Liszt, Mouquet and others.
