Children we tend to think of as playful and innocent, free from the cares of adulthood. However, young people often find themselves caught between the competing worlds of work and education. If you're a child, at least in the Western world, you are neither independent, nor are you expected to be responsible for others. If you're an adult, you are expected to be financially independent, and to accept responsibility for yourself, your family and your community. In the poorer countries of the developing world, on the other hand, it's rather different.
