When I visited Bluma Shapiro's Baltimore home, she sat me down at her kitchen table, made me some tea, set out some homemade cinnamon cookies, and proceeded to tell a completely mesmerizing tale of endurance and personal determination. Mrs. Shapiro is a survivor of the Nazi Holocaust. During World War II, she was imprisoned at the Auschwitz concentration camp. She endured two years there, and she survived to tell the story.

Bluma Shapiro
My daughter,Sydney, and I visited Mrs.Shapiro on Memorial Day of 2009. What an amazing woman and what a truly amazing experience for my daughter and myself. This woman is a true hero and an inspiration to many. I'll never forget that day as I'm sure my child won't either.
