Don’t Try This at Home

These times of economic uncertainty and high unemployment are an ideal time to ask yourself: “What could I do that might help get the economy back on its feet?” Take a look around your house. Could the kitchen use a little remodel? The family car, -a tune-up?

Now, I’m not suggesting you tackle these projects yourself, in fact, quite the opposite. If a job's worth doing, then it's worth paying someone else to do it for you. I’ll probably mangle the quote here, but whoever said, “Pay for the change you want to see in the world,” really knew what he was talking about.

To some, doing it your self seems practical and even fun, but the inexperienced do-it-yourselfer inevitably underestimates the difficulty of a given task. Sure, you’ve seen Bob Vila re-shingle an entire roof in one show, but he’s got a lackey of his own doing the heavy liftin...
