Molly Ivins left her mark on all who met who her and read her work. Her down-home style and colorful language ? she called the Texas Legislature ?The Lege? ? declared loudly and proudly that she was a Texan. And she boldly shared her opinions about the political state of affairs in books like Who Let the Dogs In?: Incredible Political Animals I Have Known and Bushwhacked: Life in George W. Bush?s America. In 1999, Ivins was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she fought her illness with the same passion and sense of irony infused in her work.
