Picture this. You're a child in school. You're called out of class by the principal. A stranger is waiting in her office. They tell you that you won't be going back home to your parents. In fact, you're going to a foster home. Today, more than half-a-million children across the country have been taken away from, or given up by, their parents, and are now wards of the state. Nearly 100,000 of those kids live in California. Many of the children living in foster homes have not only been separated from their parents... they've also been separated from their siblings. Often, there just isn't enough room in one foster care facility for the family to stay together. And that can make a difficult situation much more painful. But last summer in Santa Rosa, a new kind of foster home opened up. It's called the Children's Village, and it's goal is to keep brothers and sisters together while they're in foster care. Nancy Mullane reports...
