Blues & Beyond #27: Farewell to Tower Records

Series: Blues & Beyond
From: WXPN
Length: 00:59:00

Music collected at a farewell shopping trip at Tower Records Read the full description.

Tower_small Tower Records closed recently, and I went down there to acquire as much as I could. CDs were selling at 70% off, even imports. But I had mixed feelings about the bargains. The loss of the last retail chain to offer substantial depth in selection (i.e. blues and jazz!) is sad for sure. This hour includes some blues, jazz, R&B, and contemporary folk from artists ranging from Eddie Bo to Swamp Dogg, from Davey Graham to John Coltrane, and from Larry Carlton to Jez Lowe, all purchased at the Tower Records going-out-of-business sale.
