We were trying to think of a way to avoid the predictable in our holiday music show -- the same old schmaltz...the stuff you hear at the mall, at the grocery store... we wanted something a little more interesting and out-of-the mainstream.
But, as we started rifling thru the music library, and there are a lot of great tunes there-- it became apparent that what truly makes holiday songs interesting are the memories we associate with them.
So we spent the past couple weeks asking our colleagues here at KUT to tell us about their favorite holiday songs, and today we bring you a collection of reflections, reminicenses and recommendations---a great mix of music and memories.
Texas Music Matters presents our muzak-free holiday music hour.
