Review of Farmer, Soldier, Statesman: The Life of George Washington

This is a pull-up-a-chair hour of radio - very engaging telling of the story. There are details that reveal Washington as a very real, fallible and even ordinary citizen whose eroding national (British) subordinate devotion gave birth to an unlikely patriotic and humanitarian courage and drive. This is good family listening too - it goes well beyond the dry 8th grade history books and more evocative than television by inspiring the visual imagination. Nicely done.
