Tejidos Culturales focusses on the historic culture of the San Luis Valley to bring about more cultural awareness. The eleventh show focusses on the Mormon community in the Valley. After the signing of the treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo in 1848 which transfered the south west from Mexico to the US the mormon community made up some of the 1st anglo settlers in the Valley. Settlers from Utah came to help the newly arrived pilgrims in the high alpine desert making their numbers even stronger. This program takes a look at why the Mormon community came and what it was like for them in the earlier days.
