INTRO: During the month-long festival of Ramadan, Muslims throughout the world fast from dawn to dusk. They commemorate the time fifteen hundred years ago that it?s believed the first verses of the Koran were revealed to the Prophet Mohammed. In a quiet classroom at the Islamic School of Greater Kansas City, two local teenagers tell KCUR?s Sylvia Maria Gross about how the holiday affects their daily lives.
TAG: Noor [NOR] Abunadi [ah-boo-NAH-dee] and Elat [a lot] Selmani [sell-MAH-nee] both teach Arabic to children on Sundays at the Islamic School of Greater Kansas City.
[For pronunciation - they introduce themselves at the beginning of the story.]
