That?s how I approach playing music." -jazz percussionist Nasar Abadey I've spent some time recently putting together a series of little radio pieces about the idea of "rhythm," and my project has led me to a number of different kinds of percussionists. I met up with jazz drummer Nasar Abadey in a sound-proof practice room at the Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Institute, where he's faculty member. During his lifetime, Abadey's played with musical legends like Dizzy Gilespie and Ella Fitzgerald, And in 1976 he founded his own band, Supernova. In short, he knows about as much as anyone can possibly know about jazz drumming...
