Review of Crusts - (7) - Randy Barrett
The producer aptly describes the tone of this short feature on musician Randy Barrett as contemplative and earnest. The piece, which is part of an on-going series of portraits on individuals discussing their careers, mixes interview clips with Barrett with classical guitar, a curious choice since he's a bluegrass banjoist. Barrett sounds like an interesting musician with a story to tell but, unfortunately, because the piece lacks a narrative structure neither he nor the listener is served by this portrait--a nice effort that could be improved through more context and narration.
