This is the outro of a read-along cd for an artist's book that I made entitled FAIR -- or -- An artful documentation of the final day of the 2002 Brockton Fair in video stills and stereophonic sound with attention to the dual nature of the 12-hour event. This is mostly carousel sounds with no commentary. For a more straightforward radio piece, please check out The Fair, also on PRX.
I recorded video from the fair on a digital video camera, and I recorded audio using headworn binaural microphones. I bound video stills into a book and created audio collages that correspond to the image sequence. The book is bound dos-a-dos and divided into DAY and NIGHT sections. The idea is that every fair is essentially 2 fairs: one is bright and friendly and family-oriented, and the other is dark and sexual and ominous.

Review of Fair Read-Along, OUTRO
It's 1:30 minutes into this so-called "piece" and there has been nothing but merry-go-round music and the noises of people outside. It's 2:14 and there is still only the music and people noise. Why is this piece online? It's not a piece, it's just noise. I hope this was posted by mistake and is not a real attempt at making a radio piece. It is boring and I hate merry-go-round music. I really don't enjoy listening to people-noise either. So what was the point of this? I think it should be deleted.
