From: Christopher Brown
Length: 00:17:58

Prof. Finkelstein talks about the current situation in the occupied territories. Read the full description.

Finkelstein_small As a Jew of conscience, Norman G. Finkelstein has continually spoken out about the abuses the Palestinians have suffered at the hands of the Israeli Government. He has advocated for reparations for Palestinians, the right of return, boycotts against Israel, and that Israel return to ?pre?-1967 borders, and dismantle all settlements in the Occupied Territories (OPT). For his convictions, Finkelstein has been called a traitor to Israel, a ?self-hating Jew?. The website Masada2000.org, (http://masada2000.org/list-TUVWXYZ.HTML) a site devoted to labeling anyone of Jewish descent, who does not agree with Zionist propaganda, as ?self-hating?, recently had this to say of Finkelstein: ?Even if Norman Finkelstein did not really exist, we'd have to invent him as a Poster Yehudon [Jew Boy] caricature of the Self-Hating Israel-Threatening Jew.? Prof. Norman G. Finkelstein teaches political theory at DePaul University in Chicago. Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1953, he is the son of survivors of the Holocaust. Prof. Finkelstein is the author of five books: Beyond Chutzpah: On the misuse of anti-Semitism and the abuse of history (University of California Press, August 2005); The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the exploitation of Jewish suffering (Verso: 2000; expanded second edition, 2003); Image and Reality of the Israel-Palestine Conflict (Verso: 199; expanded second addition); A Nation on Trial: The Goldhagen thesis and historical truth (with Ruth Bettina Birn) (Henry Holt: 1998); The Rise and Fall of Palestine: A personal account of the intifada years (University of Minnesota: 1996). Prof. Finkelstein has appeared on numerous radio and television programs around the World discussing the Israel/Palestine conflict. I received the opportunity to talk with Prof. Finkelstein by telephone on a Saturday morning about the media, torture, plagiarism, and hope for the future. His website is www.normanfinkelstein.com
