A new documentary at film festivals and on PBS in June documents the death of a family farm and its rebirth through organic farming and community supported agriculture. ?The Real Dirt on Farmer John? traces the travails and triumphs of John Peterson, a third generation farmer, performer and artist whose idiosycracies sometimes put him at odds with his neighbors in rural Illinois. The film added new awards to a growing collection at Mountain Film in Telluride, Colorado, over the Memorial Day weekend, where producer Marilyn Gleason recorded this interview with Farmer John Peterson.
