#4 - Backtracking
Whitney: So Alex, set the scene for me here.
Alex: Alright, so, it’s a beautiful night in Austin, Texas in 2013. It’s South by Southwest. And I’m seeing one of my favorite bands, Vampire Weekend.

There’s four of them on stage, and they’re rocking out, and all of a sudden I hear this kind of fifth part. And I’m thinking, “Oh, was one of them playing some new crazy instrument that I can’t really hear?” Like, where is this part coming from? There’s only four of them and there’s five parts. All of a sudden, this disappointment and anger and just welling of emotions just flows up through my body, because I realize that they’re playing to a backing track.
