Review of "Here I Am, Saying Thanks To My Mom"

This piece is not only really touching but it is also very visual. The audience can really picture everything that David speaks about he does a great job on describing things so well and with such detail. The way he started off his story was brief and straight to the point, the beginning is what gets the audience into the story and wanting to know more of what David has to say. The music he chose to include in his piece is great it goes well along with the tone and mood of the piece. The only thing that I think he should have done differently would be, maybe adding his mother on the piece like interviewing her and speaking to her about how thankful he really is for her giving him life.

Review of Here I Am, Saying Thanks To My Mom

You grab me in your first few words...?Momma you had it hard..?! Often times I had to reply the story a few seconds back just to catch what you said, you have to be very careful in saying your words clearly..and also keeping it as real as you did. Your voice and the music in the background gave off a huge sense of sadness, but this story was about giving birth and the heavy burden your mom had to face....which makes me think, did your mom die while having you? (You didn?t mention it in your story.) This is a great mothers day piece! Your one narrative feature is short, but great! Its like a Halmark card and there are parts in your story where it sounds as if your rhyming, cool! Great use of sounds, the curtains pulling and the baby crying, amazing! I want to know and hear more!!!!! And that?s what a good piece does!

Review of Here I Am, Saying Thanks To My Mom

It's hard to tell a story that happened years ago without sounding trite, and even harder to make it as powerful as this piece was. The producer of "Here I Am, Saying Thanks to My Mom," impressed me through his use of sound--the sound of a curtain being pulled back, the sound of a baby crying--as well as his own voice. Combined, these made his story incredibly moving. With a strong script and a good balance between using sound effectively and distracting the listener, this piece could air on or off Mother's Day. Although in some ways this piece represents a personal "thank you," perhaps including the parents' voices would add to an already excellent story.
