In this story for the Song and Memory series, Jeffrey Carpenter remembers summers spent at church camp in the Colorado Rockies. Every night, campers would gather around a fire and sing John Denver songs, and in paticular, "Rocky Mountain High." Then, one summer, a counselor revealed the "true" nature of John Denver. The song is never quite the same for Jeffrey--and all the other campers.
