Political Prisoner Solidarity
(00:06:26)
From: Sean McMahon
My first radio piece, produced in December 2005, about the first annual week of solidarity with political prisoners.

Piece Description
[From the introduction] "In today's world of rampant consumerism, vast amounts of food, clothing, and other material goods are thrown away every day. Dumpster diving, or scrounging, is a unique reaction to consumer culture. The daily process of reappropriating goods from the trash provides a means of subsistence, as well as an ideological resistance to consumer capitalism. In this audio collage, Sean McMahon examines the mental environment of dumpster divers and scroungers." The piece features Jeff Ferrell, professor of sociology at Texas Christian University and author of "Empire of Scrounge", and Rob, a dumpster diver living in San Francisco.
