TIERNEY SUTTON: Interview & Discography Overview Jazz Music Show
Series: She Grooves Radio Hour
From: Theresa Orlando
Length: 00:58:17
On April 30th 2006, after completing weekend shows at Lincoln Center NY, Grammy nominated jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton and long time band member, pianist Christian Jacob headed to Caffe Vivaldi's Listening Room, in the heart of Greenwich Village NYC, to partake in Theresa Orlando's SHE GROOVES LIVE show, that happens the last Sunday of the month between 5-8 pm. As well as engaging jazz selections, this show is based on Tierney's comments regarding all of the cd releases spanning her career, 6 in total, currently on Telarc records. Tierney emphasizes in this show, as well as via her latest cd "I'm with the band", that SHE isn't the main ingredient of the music she records; rather her band moves as ONE solid artistic force within the jazz community. They are Christian Jacob on Piano---Trey Henry on Bass---Ray Brinker on Drums, and at times Kevin Axt on bass as well. Artistic versions of jazz selections include: Joy Spring, East Of The Sun (West of the Moon), Cheek to Cheek, Ding Dong (the witch is dead), Rt 66, and many others.
