High School student Anthony Brooks always found school difficult, but when he was in the sixth grade, his teacher Tanya Figueroa (Fig-uh-row-uh) pushed him to be his best. She meant so much to Anthony, he's sure he would have done a story about her even if she was still here, but she died the summer after she taught him. This story was produced by Radio Rookies, a program out of WNYC Radio.

ANTHONY, NARRATION: When things die, I believe their spirits live on, and roam anywhere they want to. They could be in your house, a movie theatre ? wherever. My grandfather told me that my grandma was a free spirit when she was alive. So when she died, he tossed her ashes off a mountain.

ANTHONY?S, GRANDPA: If there?s life after death, she?s soaring right now. She?s like up in the air someplace soaring.
