- WXPN
Guy Davis's work offers us an inside look at how the blues musical tradition grows. On "Skunkmello" many of his family's stories are used as song material. Davis's parents are the late Ossie Davis, and Ruby Dee, who enjoyed major theatrical success. Guy himself has had a good stage career, including a role in the Broadway production "Mulebone." "Skunkmello" features Davis on guitar, harmonica, and banjo, and is both entertaining and serious, exploring the racism that was never absent from his family's life.
