(Interview one): 4:10 mins: NW tribal members Michella (10 years old) &
Michelle Vendiola(Michella?s mother) protested the presence of an organization called the
Minute Men who have a branch of their organization, patrolling the US/BC
Borders. The Vendiolla?s were at the Peace Arch last October 2005, along with many
others who held a rally at the Indigenous People?s Day gathering.
(Interview two): 6:22 mins: On April 1, 2006 another gathering & rally were held to protest the return of the Minute Men, Joann McNerthney, Julia Campos, Aline Soundly, and Lydia Apple (volunteers) were trained after the rally to be ?legal observers? & Robin Carneen interviewed them as they watched and noted activity that was going on outside the headquarters of the Minute Men, who have set up a camp near Bellingham, Washington.
(Interview three): 22:26 mins:While there, Robin Carneen also interviewed Minute Men spokesperson Tom Williams, at the Minute Men headquarters in Bellingham, WA. (Thanks Whatcom County Sherriff?s Dept for arranging permission for Robin to go on the property to give them a chance to have their say). This organization are reportably armed & specifically looking for minorities that try and illegally cross the border. Even though Tom Williams admits some of them carry arms(with permits), he denies that any one minority group is being singled out. Both groups crossed paths on April 1, 2006 & made it a point to watch each other.
Today other advocates for immigrants who are facing new laws that will effect their current & future presence in the United States, will be calling in, to tell us about their role they played in the gathering & rally at the Peace Arch and about an upcoming one that is slated to begin at 3:30pm tomorrow in Seattle, ending at the Federal Building in downtown Seattle.

?1000?s of MINUTEMEN TO SECURE BORDERS
IN APRIL OPERATION
DETAILS BELOW STATE BY STATE
AMERICANS TO DO THE JOB THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO DO
Beginning this Saturday, April 1 st, thousands of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (?MCDC?) volunteers will take to America?s border line to do the job our federal government?and those who advocate for ?no nations, no borders??refuse to do: secure our nation?s frontier against foreign invasion and international terrorism.
MCDC-led civilian border observation operations will be conducted in all four southern Border States?Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, as well as several states along our northern frontier. The operations will be mounted around the clock for the entire month of April.
Minuteman Civil Defense Corps volunteers abide by a strict standard of conduct that includes a ?no contact? policy regarding suspected illegal aliens, with an exception to provide emergency water and medical assistance. Volunteers will report to the authorities any illegal activity seen on the border.
The mere presence of the Minutemen has proven to be a powerful deterrent to those who try to illegally enter our country. Severe disruption of illegal trafficking of persons and contraband across the US border, and the economic dislocation that results for the crime syndicates and alien gangs accustomed to operational control there, has helped fuel an extreme anger the American public has recently seen expressed by illegal alien protesters in massive urban demonstrations.
This will be the third month-long border watch by MCDC, following similar operations last April and October that focused the nation?s attention on the chaotic and violence-ridden state of our wide-open borders?and that prompted the current border security and immigration-enforcement debate in Congress.
In Arizona, the ?Secure Our Borders? campaign will commence with a rally in Altar Valley, Arizona at noon, Saturday, April 1 st.
The original border Minuteman, Cesar Chavez, warned us decades ago that lawlessness breeds lawlessness; that allowing illegal immigration would drive down wages and import poverty. His predictions have been proven accurate. The current demonstrations are a not so veiled threat of civil unrest if the government dares act to secure our borders.
Illegal aliens and the advocates of lawlessness are taking to the streets of American cities in mobs, demanding the ?right? to cross our borders unchecked and colonize these United States, flying foreign flags, and turning Old Glory upside down. They demand that they be rewarded with ?guest worker amnesty,? the blessings of our ordered liberty, and all the economic and social service benefits the American taxpayer can provide. They decline to commit to the historical goal of becoming truly part of our nation by respecting the rule of law, playing by the rules, meeting the duties and obligations of American citizenship?and loving the home of the free and the brave. They come to exploit economic opportunities while proudly proclaiming their allegiance to foreign powers.
While the nation watches this spectacle in our streets, the Minutemen will be working night and day on America?s borders to uphold the rule of law in the name of liberty?the price for which is eternal vigilance.
President Bush and Congress have failed America. Their willful refusal to protect this country has wreaked havoc in our border states and throughout our cities and towns, it has reaped contempt for our laws, and it has left our families vulnerable to terrorist infiltration and attack. The border security aspects of the legislation being debated in Congress, even the much derided Sensenbrenner-King bill (HR-4437), will take years to implement. Therefore, it remains up to the sovereign American people to secure our borders until such time as the federal government does its constitutional duty.
