Piece Description

Many people consider the Holocaust the most traumatic event of the twentieth century. James E. Young looks at how we know what we know about the Holocaust--and talks about survivors' journals and memoirs and about a poem by the Israeli poet Dan Pagis. Robert Skloot looks at a play in which the protagonist--a real figure in history--confronts difficult ethical decisions; and Froma Zeitlin focuses on the Pulitzer Prize-winning _Maus_, by the second-generation graphic artist Art Spiegelman. Well-suited to Holocaust Remembrance Day on May 6, 2005. Photo Credit: USHMM, courtesy of Memorijalni Muzej Jasenovac Fifteen- and thirty-second promos available.
