Ordinary people; Extraordinary choices
The Art of Risk is a 35-45 minute authentic, thought-provoking conversation as co-hosts Debra Jarvis and Nassim Assefi interview guests who take cultural, social, financial, emotional, and even existential risks.
They discuss the difference between a plucky choice and a stupid decision; what compels people; what risks didn’t pay off; and what we can learn from regret.
Debra Jarvis known as the “irreverent reverend,” is hospital chaplain, writer and speaker. She has written several books; best known is It’s Not About the Hair: And Other Certainties of Life & Cancer. Her 2014 TEDMED talk has been viewed nearly a million times.
Nassim Assefi is a doctor, novelist, activist, and former TEDMED curator, stage director and host. She is currently executive director of MEDICC (US health equity NGO that works in Cuba).
The appeal of the podcast comes not only from the subject and their guests, but from their deep, inter-generational friendship that grew out of being unconventional health care providers and risk-taking writers.
