The Station Resource Group is the membership organization of public radio's leading broadcasters. SRG's forty-four members operate 165 public radio stations across the country, account for one-third of public radio's audience, and produce the majority of public radio's national programming. Senior management at public radio stations are more deeply engaged in questions of mission, public service, connection to community, and meaningful roles in local civic and cultural affairs than has been the case for a decade or more. The most widely shared station ambition is to create distinctive original content that makes a difference in the community one serves and that underscores the identity and importance of the station itself. SRG, headed by Tom Thomas and Terry Clifford, has an extensive track record with national projects, most recently Charting the Territory, a planning initiative exploring content and service strategies; the design and launch of Public Radio Capital, an organization created to expand public radio's reach and new services; and Brilliant on the Basics (BOB), a eighteen-station collaboration to maximize membership income through research, efficiencies, and best practices.
