Brian Beatty's deadpan spoof about National Poetry Month (April) suggests that a rhyme for the word "hilarious" needn't be "nefarious." As ticked off as Beatty seems to be about esoteric unrhyming poems you wouldn't want to mail as National Poetry Month greeting cards to your friends, he's not about to launch a terrorist attack on Mount Parnassus. His ever-so-slow manner of speech quickens with all the charm of a mildly disgruntled koala bear. For all his grumpiness, Beatty sounds more gregarious than precarious.
