Journalists and interviewers. Rising stars and seasoned vets. Blank on Blank brings forgotten interviews back to life by delivering the best of these lost interviews to public radio.
Why? Because writers save interviews recorded while reporting, yet most of them are never heard, left to gather dust on tapes and hard drives. These interviews can and should be brought to listening audiences. Blank on Blank's producers mix these must-hear outtakes with music and storytelling to create a polished piece that helps tell the American story.
Meet the Founder and Executive Producer
David Gerlach has been part of New York’s media world for nearly a decade. Most recently he was a producer at ABC News covering domestic and international affairs on Good Morning America. He left ABC at the end of 2011 to build Blank on Blank.
Prior to working at ABC, David was a producer for Rachel Maddow and Dan Abrams at MSNBC. David got his start in journalism writing about culture and politics for Newsweek and the New York Post, before moving to television.
Throughout each of these stops, one thing was clear to David: interviews are central to hearing the real story of America. And with that in mind, Blank on Blank's interview archive was born.
David graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in history. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife.
