The New PRX

Navigating PRX after our latest release: simpler, better, happier.

How did you spend your Summer?

Our web developers spent the vacation months on major upgrades to PRX.org. They are now ready for launch!

Some really significant ones you won't see because they're beneath the hood. Others, including those summarized below, make PRX simpler, clearer and more useful to anyone involved in station programming.

We listened to lots of suggestions from you, your colleagues, listeners, and producers.

Here's a peek.

Posting Pieces to PRX

The Piece Editing page is now one page long.

And, you can upload your files directly within the page--as easy as an email attachment. You don't have to use the PRX Uploader unless you are posting long pieces or you just prefer using it.

We've added a check box to the Content Advisory area. With the size of FCC fines lately, stations want producers to be extra careful and clear about potentially worrisome content and language.

We've simplified the License and Pricing section too. For pieces you've previously uploaded you'll need to convert to the new terms, which are clear and non-lawyerly.

Check out the new piece editing movie.

Who Licensed?

Go to any piece on PRX. If the piece has been licensed you can click on the "Licensed" tab to see which stations bought that piece! This is all about making PRX more transparent.

New Search Display

Images! Easier to browse! Star ratings, too!

New Account Statements

Take off your green eye-shades! The quarterly earnings statements are now all online, updated in real time and available going back 5 quarters. Lots of detail but no eye strain. Print 'em, export them to Excel, keep track of your moolah.

Content Advisory

In the real world where the FCC levies big fines, PRX is prompting producers to alert you when a piece might have language or content issues. You'll now see a large banner at the top of piece profile pages when a producer flags a piece.

RSS

Save time. Find out automatically when new items of interest pop up. You can turn ANY search on PRX into an RSS feed that goes into your RSS reader. Click on the 'all search options' link next to the Search box at the top of PRX.org; enter a search term; check other items (such as length) and then press the RSS symbol. Watch the results. (If you need a primer on RSS go here.)
